I love this because this is why Conservatives get so mad at college students and professors. Because we learn shit. We learn what America has done and is doing. We learn that most bad things that are out to get us are direct consequences of what we did years ago to fight a different war. We learn that we kill more than we give. We learn that other countries fear us, not respect us. We learn other countries were doing FINE before we went in for oil under the guise of “democracy.” And Conservatives hate it and they try and laugh off very concise and thought provoking trails of thought “because my daddy and his daddy fought in a war and they were scared but they fought for our freedom” as if that justifies half the shit we did while in those countries. They hate any intelligence that makes America look even slightly at fault for the things it’s done. That’s why most liberals are young kids with college degrees and most conservatives are redneck older men in back-country woods who can’t even name all eight planets.
AND this is really why it’s important to not take away the AP US History courses that a couple states are trying to phase out (*cough* Texas). Being in AP US history showed a lot of the hypocrisy that is built up in America and that has been one of the biggest eye openers. It shows that there is no real safe place and that in order to survive, you have to think for yourself. People taking away AP US history will only lead to more naive people who hold America to a pedestal it has yet to achieve.
