As we all know, the 2015 Billboard Music Awards were a trainwreck. “Fancy” beat “Anaconda” for Best Rap Song; however, Iggy Azalea’s award goes against the regulations for nominations. At the end of the award show, it says all nominated content was released after March 10th, 2014. “Fancy” was released on February 17th, 2014, almost a month before eligibility. I double checked Billboard’s website to confirm this.
“Fancy” was not eligible for its award. “Anaconda”, however, is. Barbz, please don’t let this go unnoticed! “Anaconda” deserved this award, as its sales and streaming sent it through the roof. Iggy has proven to be transphobic and raicst, and Nicki’s “Anaconda” was made to empower women. Iggy’s award isn’t valid or legitimate. This is just another example of how racist award shows are.
