There’s this weird and alienating belief that trans people always have to stand up for themselves, always have to correct people on their pronouns and name or else they aren’t “trans enough” and must not really want those pronouns/name/respect.
Trans people are people. Trans people are allowed to be shy and uncomfortable and nervous about standing up for themselves without it reflecting negatively on their gender. Trans people are allowed to not say something if they don’t want to or can’t. That doesn’t change a thing about what’s previously been said, and it should stop having the connotation that it does.
