If she had some heels with really good support and fit her feet well and she was used to moving around in said heels, I think it’s perfectly believable that she could outrun the t-rex.
There are women who can run in heels and they should be respected and feared.
Those heels are not 5″ they’re 3.5″ (x, x). A Broadway dancer can spend several hours a day doing complicated steps in 3″ heels, running would be easy compared to some of the dance moves I’ve seen these women pull off. It’s very believable for a woman who is accustomed to wearing heels to be able to run in 3.5″ heels.
I’m against female super heroes being put in 6″ stilettos because that’s impractical, but Claire is not a woman who planned her outfit with the intent of fighting crime. This is a business woman who ended up in a dangerous situation and had to run. It’s very believable that she would be in heels considering her job title, it’s also believable that she’s used to moving quickly in heels since she’s not a ‘sit at a desk all day’ business woman. If they had put her in 5″-7″ heels and had her running around I’d be right there with you saying it was a little unbelievable and done just to make her wardrobe sexier. They didn’t. They put her in a reasonably sized heel for a business woman who is used to being on her feet most of the day and showed that she is accustomed to moving quickly in these heels. I find this extremely realistic for her character and I love that Hollywood is finally embracing the middle-ground when it comes to female action stars and their footwear. Most films think they either have to go with super sexy 6″ heels or practical boots/sneakers. Jurassic World had a woman in the right type of shoe for the job she was portraying and also a shoe that many women are able to run in.
