So a friend pointed me to keybase.io which is a chat app as well as a digital identity tool. I’ve verified my Tumblr with keybase , (also Facebook, Twitter, pgp, etc). So if you add me you can verify that i am who I say I am, and you can exchange digitally encrypted message, that are not store decrypted on anyone’s servers.
I also use signal from open whisper systems, if you have my phone number, it replaces standard sms messages with encrypted messages. It uses a technique called perfect forward secrecy, that even if some steals your phone and got old messages that can’t get future ones.
I’m going to create a side blog to talk about privacy, digital security, and such as they relate to social media, activism, at risk populations, and other random non transition related stuff. I haven’t named it yet but the theme is based around the dining cryptographers problem, which is a intro into advanced crypto protocals.
