That’s unfortunately pretty par for the course on tumblr. This website is really American-centric and so issues affecting other countries (particularly political ones) don’t tend to get as much attention unless something truly difficult to ignore or buzzworthy happens – or, at least, they don’t seem to get as much attention. Sometimes how much we see something talked about or not talked about on our dashes isn’t really a reflection of how many people are talking about it in general, but how many people we follow are talking about it, and if you follow mostly Americans you’ll likely see less about European politics than if you follow mostly Europeans.
Outside of tumblr, however, I do see a lot of people talking about this issue. It’s not getting as much attention as net neutrality did/does but it’s also not being totally ignored or ignored to the point that I think it’s worth distressing over. More awareness needs to be raised, absolutely, but know that this is something both individuals and advocacy groups are fighting and trying to work against. It’s not getting totally swept under the rug by any means.
And, that said, for anyone who wants to know more about this issue please check out the Save Your Internet website. Especially check this website if you live in the EU and are going to be impacted by this as it provides ways right on the front page to email, call, and tweet your reps.
