I’ve wanted an organizer for my needles and hooks for forever, finally got off my ass (or… on my ass? Sewing is mostly sitting after all haha) and made one yesterday. All fabrics are from my stash, the grayish green on the outside is a really nice upholstery fabric I was saving for an obi but I think this is a much better use for it.

I might’ve forgotten to make room for all the needles currently tied to WIP projects, but that’s okay since there will hardly be a time when all my needles are empty and in storage.

OKAY SO HERE ARE THE PICS. Inspired by this post by @pipistrellus (@pipcomix)

These are 16th century Renaissance inspired hotpants, panelled with navy velvet with a red silk lining and hand-embroidered butt slogan, which I believe is like 300% historically accurate. They’re actually modelled off a genuine Tudor pattern but then made ridiculous because who am I.

Worn with thigh highs and a 18th C shirt cuz it was all I had to hand and frankly shirts don’t change that much lol.

So people are freaking out about Windows 10′s “Wi-Fi Sense” app.

The assumption that Tumblr is taking as fact because that’s what Tumblr does:

“Wi-Fi Sense gives your wi-fi password to your Skype friends list, your Facebook friends list, your AIM friends list, and every other friends list on your computer; all without you knowing. Please be informed and follow this tutorial to turn it off.”

The truth:

– Wi-Fi Sense has to be manually downloaded, first off.

– Secondly, it doesn’t give your wi-fi password out. It gives access to your network to anyone on your Skype/Facebook/whatever buddy lists, so they don’t need you to TELL THEM your password.

– The purpose of this is simple: If your friends come over with their laptop and they wanna use your internet, you can passively give them access because you have them on your Skype buddy list. This way, you don’t have to give them a receipt with blue sharpie on it that has a fucking 480 character password on it so they can get into your wi-fi.

– The password isn’t stored anywhere on their computer, it’s stored on yours, just as it’s always been, just as it always will be. All Wi-Fi Sense does is give them access to your wi-fi without a password.

– Therefore, Wi-Fi Sense is actually leaps and bounds more safe and secure than just normal wi-fi usage. You literally don’t have to tell anyone your password. Like ever. Hell you don’t even have to tell it to your own family, you can just select their computer on the network and allow or deny them access remotely.

I’m not gonna ask everyone to spread the word here because it’s gonna fall on deaf ears once it hits the Anti-Win10 crowd, but if you’ve been seeing the BS about Wi-Fi Sense going around, don’t believe it. Once again, Tumblr is extremely misinformed and didn’t take the time to search Google for about 12 seconds.

Super nice things to do for someone who has depression

– Chances are their room is a disaster and they have -846 motivation to do anything about it. Helping them tidy up will make them feel a little less overwhelmed. 

– Do their laundry. Even small chores seem to pile up when a person is depressed and not having clean clothes won’t make them feel any better. Washing their bedding is also great.

– Try to convince them to go for a short walk with you. There is a good chance they will feel a lot better after.

– If you can’t get them outside, at least open a window for fresh air and let some sunshine in.

– Prepare them a healthy meal with some fresh fruit. Many depressed people fall into bad eating patterns. 

– If they aren’t eating enough, make sure they are taking a multi vitamin since not getting enough of a vitamin causes depression

– Make them a warm, nice smelling bath. Aromatherapy is a great way to treat depression and anxiety. 

– Write them a letter or card to read for when they’re feeling really bad.

– Make them a recovery playlist with some of their favourite songs and anything up lifting.

– Make them laugh.

– Make them a cup of tea and sit with them.

– Listen to them and try to understand what they’re feeling.

I’m dating someone who does this stuff and more for me. For the first time ever. It’s really a blessing and not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate all of the little things, because at the end of the day they are actually the big things. Take care of your lovers.

Scientists discover most relaxing tune ever

Sound therapists and Manchester band Marconi Union compiled the song. Scientists played it to 40 women and found it to be more effective at helping them relax than songs by Enya, Mozart and Coldplay.

Weightless works by using specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener. A continuous rhythm of 60 BPM causes the brainwaves and heart rate to synchronise with the rhythm: a process known as ‘entrainment’. Low underlying bass tones relax the listener and a low whooshing sound with a trance-like quality takes the listener into an even deeper state of calm.

Dr David Lewis, one of the UK’s leading stress specialists said: “‘Weightless’ induced the greatest relaxation – higher than any of the other music tested. Brain imaging studies have shown that music works at a very deep level within the brain, stimulating not only those regions responsible for processing sound but also ones associated with emotions.”

The study – commissioned by bubble bath and shower gel firm Radox Spa – found the song was even more relaxing than a massage, walk or cup of tea. So relaxing is the tune, apparently, that people are being Rex advised against listening to it while driving.
